ADVENTURES IN

ROOFING

What happens when you hire the
wrong roofing contractor?

my roof replacement experience with Nick McCullough,
[ McCullough Brothers Contracting ]

ABOUT ME & MY HOME

My name is Jessica Karp. I’m a freelance web designer in Atlanta, GA. I purchased my first home in August of 2011 and spent the next five years restoring it to its original 1962 beauty.

On March 8, 2016 I hired Nick McCullough of McCullough Brothers Contracting to replace my roof.

Three weeks later, water is pouring into several rooms of my home, Nick then put a lien on my house and requested warrants for my arrest, falsely claiming that I had written him bad checks.

I originally created this website as a timeline for my attorney and decided to make this site public in the hopes that it will prevent others from having to go through the same experience.

Roof Work Day 2

March 15, 2016

Roof Work Day 2
Broken window Had to remove conduit pipe from roof Heard main sub, Zeb Cammon, complaining about how Nick wanted him to come out of pocket for something in regards to my roof and how he wasn’t about to do that. When Nick McCullough delivered the final invoice, he told me they had incorrectly measured for materials on my roof and were $1,500 upside down in the job. Called Nick to ask what Zeb Cammon might be complaining about and Nick said he wasn’t sure, that Zeb Cammon complained about everything Electricians were at house from 7:30-10pm removing electrical from roof and all the lights in the living room. Final Invoice Delivery

March 17, 2016

Nick showed up with final invoice. Said he was upside down in the job $1,500 for materials because the lead sub had never done a roof like mine and measured incorrectly. Asked me if I would mind asking my parents if they’d cover it I gave Nick two checks for the roof. One for the original amount of $7,500 and one for $1,480 for the additional fees. I had some concerns after Nick left in regards to his comment about the main sub not having flat roof experience and began looking for info on the materials I had photographed at the start of the job Read more

Roof Concerns

March 18, 2016

Roof Concerns
I spoke to a lady in the sales dept. at Alco. I was told their products were not intended for use on a flat roof and in the event they were installed on a flat roof, the warranty would be voided I brought a ladder into the living room to have a look at the roof and saw several gaps and other areas that were troublesome and I felt like the roof was much darker than I was told it was going to be I texted Nick with my concerns and he became combative. Said the products they used were the only choice, that my roof was not flat, that the roof was made with the best materials and called me a busy body. I told him I needed him to hold off on Read more
